IT'S BEEN A WHILE

Well, hello blog-o-sphere. Long time no see! I've been struggling lately on what exactly I want to do with this space. It started off as a personal thing where I just wanted a place in the online world to share my daily life happenings & thoughts on such happenings. However, micro-blogging (twitter, instagram) has really taken more priority (+ I enjoy the breeze of browsing those sites), leaving me with little motivation to update this thing. Because really, how much sharing is too much sharing?

In the next few months, I'm going to be working on a blog project with my brother. A space that I think I'll be much more happier with. We wanted to launch it a year or so ago but life was just too busy at the time. I've finally found a happy medium & I think I'm ready to give it a go. Until then, I'm going to brainstorm on what I want to do with this space. I'll probably update randomly. Who knows what sort of inspiration will strike, but when it does I'll be sure to share.

Until then, I leave you with this...

because it is awesome.

WEEKEND

roses trader joes

This weekend I...

+ Purchased new Wayfarers & a pretty pair of $200 shoes for $20.
+ Went to a George Harrison tribute show at Mercy Lounge. (happy bday, george!)
+ Slow danced at a karaoke bar to some terrible country music.
+ Ate my body weight in mexican food at Rose Pepper.
+ Watched Office Space, Take Shelter, & too many episodes of Teen Mom than I'm willing to admit.
+ Spent an afternoon with my bestie eating greek food & grocery shopping at Trader Joe's.
+ Napped alot.
+ Watched The Oscars with my family while eating ice cream sundaes.
+ Did alot of day dreaming. Future plans, present goals, etc.

Can't wait to do it all again next weekend!

VALENTINE'S DAY OF CHAMPS

valentines day instagram

Happy (late) Valentine's Day, friends!

Mine was spent with my dear friend Shanda. We spent our evening at my house watching our faaavorite (sarcasm)(jk it is my favorite) documentary & torturing ourselves with sausage & soap flavored jelly beans. Sounds like a pathetic evening for two single 20-somethings, but we really enjoyed ourselves. :)

This week has unfolded to be a quiet one, which is just what I needed. I've managed to keep the house clean & get in a few workouts. It seems that productivity might be the cure for everything. I've really been staying on top of my to-do list lately & I've noticed a big change in my mood. I'm also more tired at night which is helping change my forever-challenging & near terrible sleep habits.

I've heard that one of the best things you can do for yourself to be productive & highly effective in your day is to simply GET OUT OF BED in the morning.

This is yet to be seen...

SPRING WISHLIST

Spring always brings feelings of excitement & forward motion for me. The winters here are usually miserable being that it seems to rain every single day. This winter has been a little different but no less, I can still feel spring fever sneaking up.

As I've stated before, this year is all about being productive. In every area of life. This includes spending money more wisely & shopping smarter. I've become a complete list freak lately, making lists for absolutely everything. Lists of things I need for my bedroom, things I need to organize, places I want to see, people I need to talk to, etc etc etc. Lists helps me to stay focused especially in a shopping situation. Mindless shopping is the worst & what usually causes me to overspend & buy items that I usually only end up wearing once or twice.

This is my Spring Wardrobe Wishlist...

strappy ankle booties
A strappy pair of ankle booties.

boyfriend khakis
A pair of comfy, colorful khakis.

black and white bow blouse
A pretty new blouse (or two...or seven)

envelope clutch
An envelope clutch

colorblock maxi skirt
A maxi skirt

What's on your wardrobe wishlist?

JUST DO IT ALREADY!

(My Timex heart monitor that I L-O-V-E)

I've been making alot of little changes in my life recently. In hopes of keeping myself accountable for these, I wanted to blog about the one I'm most excited about. GETTING IN SHAPE!

2011 was dedicated to a year of being a better me. I took huge strides & was able to rid myself of alot of negativity and guilt that I had been carrying around for a long time. I spent most of the year focusing on my diet & learning as much as I could about my body & how I should be treating it. Although I had my moments, like when I ordered two dinner entrees while in Florida (hey, it was my birthday!), it was an overall success. I consistently worked out the entire year & maintained the 12 pounds I had managed to lose at the beginning of 2011. I experimented with diets & although it's not perfect, it's definitely getting better. How does one resist things like bacon or peanut butter cups, anyway? Still working on that.

With the momentum from my successes in 2011, I plan on pushing it hard in 2012. I've got a boxing trainer lined up, which I'll start working with in March. I'm hoping to not break my nose...or get a black eye...or have my arms fall off. So if none of those things happen, I plan on starting my personal training program sometime this summer/fall. It's expensive, so I don't want to make any promises to myself yet but I'm determined to get the ball rolling this year!

As for the present moment, things are starting off well. I did a total of 4 workouts this week which consisted of 155 minutes total & I burned 1,985 calories. That's an average of almost 13 calories per minute. Whew! I'm giving my muscles a break today, but will jump back into the workout game tomorrow.

What are you doing to improve your self in 2012?

MUSIC REVIEW : SHEEPDOGS

sheepdogs rolling stone

Last night was spent with the lady friends at The Basement seeing Canadian rock n roll band, Sheepdogs. They're the first & only unsigned band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone. They've since been signed to Atlantic & Patrick Carney of the Black Keys will be producing their new album. The ladies & I decided they sound alot like the Allman Brothers (& sort of look like them too!).

My favorite song "I Don't Know" happens to be their most recent music video. Check it out below...
