Artist Spotlight : Charmaine Olivia

Today's Artist Spotlight highlights the work of Charmaine Olivia. I die die die for her work. Her work reminds me a little of Brian Viveros'. Just more feminine & pretty. Her silhouette series is most definitely my favorite. She has alot of prints for sale here and a lovely little blog you can read here. However, I will warn you, some of her work is NSFW. So proceed with caution!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Arist Spotlight : Nate Frizzell

Today's artist spotlight showcases the work of California based artist Nate Frizell, one of my all time favorite painters (& now is a sculptor!). I ran across a painting of his on Tumblr a couple of years ago which intrigued me. I'm now an avid reader of his blog & hope to purchase a few prints by him once I move in the summer.

(the first painting I saw by Frizzell & my all time favorite.)

Artist Spotlight : Rosie Hardy

Today's post spotlights photographer, Rosie Hardy, who was featured in my last TILT post. As mentioned before, I've been a fan of her work since it first got out to the interwebz (2 or 3 years ago?). She first started with self portraits for a 365 project. Her work has changed alot over time but there has always been something both haunting & delicate in all of her photographs. I feel like if her photographs had personalities, they would all be very moody.

Rosie is a 20 year old photographer based out of the UK. Yes, you read that right - only 20! Although I see most of her work only online, she shot the cover of the most recent Maroon 5 album, Hands All Over, which I found to be incredibly exciting! It seems like she's accomplished alot for being so young, which is well deserved in my opinion since her talent is so obvious.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Artist Spotlight : Adele

I'll be honest, when I first heard that Adele was putting out a new album, I didn't exactly jump for joy. Don't get me wrong, this girl's voice is a force to be reckoned with, but I played her last album to death. So much so that I have difficulty listening to it now. I purchased her new album, 21, this past weekend and HOLY CRAP. My jaw was on the floor, heart in the pit of my stomach, I sort of felt like crying. This album is intensely emotional. It speaks alot about a failed relationship; what could have been - something I think everyone can relate to in one way or another. But let's be honest, this girl could be singing about vegetables & it would still be beautiful. Just like her face.

You can watch the video of her latest single here.
I encourage everyone to give her new album a listen. :)

Artist Spotlight: Peter Callesen

I was introduced to artist Peter Callesen's work tonight by one of my besties, Shanda. He is a paper sculptor of sorts & I have always found paper to be one of the most interesting mediums. It seems like something so simple. Paper is flat, 2d, & fairly boring. However, artists like Peter Callesen see paper in an entirely different light. I am so amazed.

You can see more of his work here.
