WHAT I WORE : GREEN ACRES

Denim on Denim
Denim on Denim

shirt - old navy, jeans - f21, boots - steve madden (thrifted), fedora & necklace - francesca's (they're my most favorite pieces in my closet!)

Have I ever mentioned how excited I get when I get to spend time with my bff, Lauren? We actually live together but don't always spend alot of time together since we both have such ridiculously busy schedules. We've been bestfriends for almost 14 years. Fourteen years, people!

Today we (+ her boyfriend, David) spent time at Green Door Gourmet, which is located on a farm in West Nashville. Lauren has some lovely friends who work there. We went on a hayride. Fun was had.

I think a small farm might be in my five year plan. & babies. Does anyone else get mad baby fever around this time of year? Along with seasonal depression? It's an odd combination...

WHAT I WORE

I am extremely excited to get back into posting What I Wore posts. Work had me consumed for a bit so I was literally wearing jeans & tank tops every single day. Nothing to see here!

But I've found a happy balance now & am making time to get dressed & do my hair in the mornings. Oh, happy day! Plus fall is fast approaching which is my favorite time of the year to get dressed.

Old Navy Dress

dress - Old Navy ; belt - Target ; sandals - Aldo ; necklace - U.O.

UO Necklace

Aldo Sandals

T-shirt dresses are probably my most favorite invention ever. They are so comfy. I stole this one from my bff (& now housemate!) when she ran off to France last year. It has since never been returned but I don't think she minds. ;) I wore this on Sunday - A day I spent running errands, shopping, & posted up at Fido catching up on computer stuff. The internet at our house has seriously been such a bust. We tried out AT&T for the first time, rather than Comcast. Comcast has always given me such problems but now I'm just coming to the conclusion that there is no reliable internet in Nashville. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon because I miss watching Netflix in bed. Wahhh!

I'll be back tomorrow with a TILT post then sharing my 23 Things To Do Before 24 on Friday! Busy week!

WHAT I WORE : Spilling the lemonade

lileigh lemonade

shirt - fossil ; shorts - gap ; sandals - aldoshoes.com

Sometimes life hands you lemons & in the process of making lemonade, you spill the pitcher all over your new shoes. Damn.

Things don't always turn out how you want them to. Sometimes they go so far in the other direction that you wonder if you're just completely delusional & out of touch with reality. This is how I've felt for the past few days. I had something going quite swimmingly in my life. Until it wasn't swimming anymore. & that something went so far gone, it started to drown. & now I'm left here looking up at the sky saying, "WHAT THE HELL!?"

lileigh lemonade

I've grieved & I'm done. Instead of trying to convince myself that this situation taught me something, I am going to attempt to forget that it ever happened.

With outstretched arms & wide open hands, I'm asking for a new batch of lemons.

WHAT I WORE

Michelle Kim lace dress

Dress - 213 by Michelle Kim (Purchased at Posh Boutique) ; Necklace - Francesca's ; Sandals - Aldo

I was in no mood to be serious on Friday evening, as you can tell from that lovely photo above. Some days are sillier than others, y'know?

I purchased this b-e-a-u-tiful dress from Posh Boutique on my birthday last year. My dear friend, Haley, helped me pick it out for my birthday party. I was pretty hesitant at first since I usually only purchase black dresses for events like parties & hello!? This dress is definitely not black! In fact, it is unlike any dress I've ever worn. This was my first time wearing it with flats & I was a little afraid that the dress had too much fabric & it would make me look...sloppy? But it seemed to turn out alright! Kayla thought I looked very Italian. Perfect! ;)

Lileigh Aldo sandals

That necklace is my favorite & I scored those Corilla sandals for a whopping $31.49 from Aldo last week as well as another pair. They're having another sale right now with alot of shoes marked 50% off! Getchya some!

& yes, I am really that pale in real life.

Buon Compleanno!

Birthday Party

On Friday night, we celebrated Lauren's 23rd birthday...ITALIAN style!
I swear we were campaigning for No Carb Left Behind. How do the Italians do it!?

We consumed large amounts of pasta, bread, cheese, & wine. LOTS of wine. It was the most deeeelicious party I've ever been to.

What I Wore : This old thing

Lileigh What I Wore
Lileigh What I Wore
Lileigh What I Wore

tank - old navy, maybe? ; skirt - francesca's ; wedges - mia (dsw)

The truth is, my all-time favorite thing to wear is an old tank top. I'm talking worn out, ragged, been through the wash too many times, bleach stained, worn by your ex-boyfriend, OLD tank top.

This tank top is no exception. It's old. I mean really, really old! I work out in it, sleep in it, let other people wear it & yes...go to dinner in it. Where I proceed to stuff my face with pizza, spinach salad & red wine (my favorite meal).

Judge me.

What I Wore : Lavender

(I like to put my hands in my pockets. Obvs.)

blouse - LOFT ; jeans - forever 21 ; sandals - so old I can't remember! ; ring - francesca's ; necklace - banana republic

I'm kind of obsessed with Lavender lately. It's everywhere! I picked up this pretty blouse at Loft for a whopping fifteen bucks! I'm wearing it out to dinner with a friend tonight. Perfect top for a perfect spring day!

Today I spent the day reading, relaxing, & recharging. It's nice having Thursdays off. It gives me a chance to gear up for the busy weekend. My apologies for being MIA around the interwebz lately but work has been keeping me busy, busy! I'm nearly two weeks into my new position at Harley Davidson & I'm absolutely loving it. I never pictured myself working at a motorcycle dealership, but I must say - I'm fitting in pretty well! & it sure is nice being able to wear jeans to work every day & not worry about if my tattoos are covered. I'll be getting my motorcycle license here soon, which is crazy to think about. I've always been interested in learning to ride but I never thought I'd actually take the steps to do it. My dad & brother are also interested in getting theirs so we might just make it a family affair!

I'm off to 55 South for some good ole' southern comfort food. Hope everyone is having a lovely week. xxx

A new shirt...& first day jitters

I don't think this really qualifies as a What I Wore post but I wanted to show off my favorite new shirt. I've never owned anything quite like it. For one, I don't really like wacky patterns. Secondly, I'm not the biggest fan of wearing color. & third, I HATE when shirts are cinched at the waist.

& look at me! I'm wearing a multi-colored, aztec printed shirt that is cinched at the waist. & I cinched it even more with a black belt. WHO AM I!?I purchased my last batch of clothes from Francesca's using my trusty discount on Friday. I'm going to miss that discount...

On a happier note, I start my new big girl job tomorrow at Boswell's Harley Davidson & I am so so so excited! But also really nervous. REALLY nervous.

Here goes nothin'!

What I Wore : A Day Off

blouse - urban outfitters ; jeans - forever 21 ; necklace - francesca's

I did absolutely nothing today.
Except for stay in bed until 2pm,
watch hours of What The Buck,
& eat cantaloupe.

Yep. Wanna fight about it?

April 7, 2011

what i wore : margaritas & mental illness

What a whirlwind week this has been!
Here's what I wore to have top shelf margaritas & tableside guacamole...& more margaritas...& more guacamole...at Cantina Loredo.

jeans & top - forever 21; shoes - mia (purchase here); necklace - vintage

& over $100 later, we decided we had had enough. But let's be honest, we'll probably go back tomorrow night for more.

This week has been a struggle. My anxiety seems to be building up a bit lately. Most likely because of the impending job switch that will be happening soon. As much as I try not to let it run my life, I know deep down that anxiety is a big part of me. The truth is, I have a little secret. I struggle with general anxiety disorder & a few weird side affects from that that I'm not quite ready to share. This means I am stressed out 24/7 & alot of it unfortunately, is completely subconscious. It affects me both mentally, emotionally, & even physically on a day to day basis. On most days, my anxiety gives me a dull feeling in my stomach. It makes me feel slightly short of breath & sometimes a little spacey. On my bad days, I am extremely irritable, emotional, & completely neurotic (in my opinion). I get very impatient & short with those who try to carry a conversation with me. I get extremely task oriented & insist on making a list of things to keep my hands busy, busy, busy. I feel like the more I physically do, the better I can push the anxiety away. & it's always worked until recently.

Over the past year or two, I have discovered that working out gives me a sense of calm that I can't find through any other coping techniques. That's been my main coping mechanism & de-stresser these past few months & I must say, it's paying off in unexpected ways! By channeling my anxiety into something positive (ie: educating myself on fitness), I've lost 6 pounds & discovered a whole fitness world that I never even knew about. I try to spend thirty minutes to an hour in the gym every day. Most weeks I'll usually accomplish this 5 days a week, which is a start. I love reading fitness magazines & blogs for different work-out ideas & challenges. For once in my life, I'm actually excited about bikini shopping. This my friends, is a great start to 2011. :)

Do you have issues with sress & anxiety? How do you cope? I'd love to hear!

March 29, 2011

what i wore : dressing like a pro

jeans - express; shirt - bcbg generation; silk blazer - urban outfitters; shoes - matty's (dsw)

I didn't realize how colorful my wardrobe has been lately until donning this nearly all black ensemble. Black used to make up the bulk of my closet, even in the spring. I think my personal style is finally starting to grow & settle into a different place though. & that place is colorful!
I also can't believe I'm wearing flared jeans again! I think the Rachel Zoe bug bit me.

Anywho, today was a BIG day. I had an interview with a company that I am very much looking forward to working for (that is, if the opportunity fits!). I had my first interview with Boswell's Harley Davidson in Nashville. My second interview is on Friday, which is where all of the nitty gritty will be discussed. If you're a friend of mine, you realize how fitting this job would be. Leather, studs, burley bearded motorcycle dudes with tattoos...I mean, it's practically screaming my name! In all seriousness, Harley Davidson is a great company to be involved with. I would be a visual merchandiser/buyer for one of their locations here in Nashville. It's a company I could really picture myself growing with so fingers are crossed! I would appreciate it if you'd cross yours too. :)

Tonight I'm having another go at JJ's Wine Bar! I have a feeling this is going to be a great summer hangout...

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday!

what i wore

sweater - francesca's; blouse - the limited; jeans - forever 21; shoes - gap's city flats

Oh, haaaay!

Today is a rainy, dreary, downer Wednesday. I have the day off so I spent most of the morning & early afternoon sleeping. It felt good to get more than four or five hours of shut eye in. For whatever reason, my sleep schedule was thrown for a loop these past few weeks. I think I'm getting back to normal though.

I spent the rest of my day catching up on my blogroll on Bloglovin' & running a few errands. My evening is going to prove to be a little more exciting. I've got plans to go to dinner with a girlfriend, then we're headed up to Nashville to see our dear friend Kree Woods play. I believe this is only her second show, so I'm really excited to be able to attend! That girl has got the gift of many talents.

I hope everyone has had a lovely week thus far.
I'll be back tomorrow with Things I Love Thursday!

March 12, 2011

what I wore

dress - francescas; belt - target; boots - steve madden

I didn't plan on posting again until tomorrow. But lo & behold...here I am! If pale skin isn't really your thing, I suggest you just skip these 'What I Wore' posts for the next six months. The weather is getting warmer which means no more tights! Unfortunately, for you, that means getting to see my ghostly skin, which doesn't really change much over the summer. I'm not much of a tanner & I can't say I really enjoy being outside in these Tennessee summers. However, I do love spring & plan on taking full advantage of it this year. So maybe my skin will get a little sun. Maybe.

I have a confession. This dress is my most favorite purchase in a long time. That means I like to wear this dress. ALOT. I wore it out last night to meet some girlfriends at this great new wine bar in downtown Franklin called JJ's Wine Bar (& then I wore the dress to work today). If you're a fan of self-service ice cream places like Sweet Cece's, but prefer somewhere less kid friendly, than JJ's is the place for you. You're given a card which tracks your purchases, & you basically walk around tasting wine out of these self-serve machines that dispense wine. You can choose to taste the wine, or have a half-glass pour or full-glass pour. It's an ingenius idea! They have lots of wine to choose from that ranges from very low-priced to very, very high. The staff was super friendly too. I'll admit, I think those boys were just excited to see a few pretty, young things in there since downtown Franklin isn't really bumpin' with 20-somethings on a Friday night. ;)

I'm having a little get together tomorrow with some friends for wine, games, & good conversation. Hopefully we'll remember to snap a few photos!
